October 3, 2009

Okay...I am again sorry that it has been so long since the last post.  All has been pretty fair here.  We have had our ups and downs this summer that is for sure!!!  At the moment, things are fairly calm and we are very excited about the gains that Clif is making as he has transitioned some of his medicines.  It has only been a week, but hopefully the future is looking up!!!

Please continue to pray for Clif's strength and steadfastness as he travels along this very difficult road.  And, for his family as we travel it with him.  He is requesting prayers for his "eyes" as his vision has changed in the right visual field following the accident, and it is proving to be very frustrating.  To quote "Facing the Giants," we are "preparing for rain" and we have faith that Clif will prevail.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to update everyone again very soon!

All my love,
Paige

Update

Hi all! Sorry it has been so long since our last blog. Clif is at home now, doing great and enjoying his break. We are starting him on a new therapy a few weeks ago. Basically, it is retraining the brain to do tasks it once knew how to do. Everyone uses only about 15% of their brain, so the other 85% remains unused. This type of therapy helps Clif's existing 15% and connects him to the 85% we do not use. It is a newer therapy, meaning modern day doctors might not understand it or even know about it. BUT the good news is it has given some amazing results to other brain injury patients. Clif will have 50 sessions of it, once a day during the week. At about #25 or so, we will see what kind of effect it is having, if we haven't already noticed little things. One of the things it will retrain Clif to do first is not get so anxious. Just imagine knowing how to do every day things and then having to relearn them all over again. You would experience anxiety as you try to push through a learning curve you have already mastered while your body struggles with it.

We are very excited about this new journey. We just have to be patient and keep running the race. Please pray for God's Presence at these therapies and that His hand is at work in Clif each and every time. Pray for a miracle that will glorify Him! Pray for a 100% recover!

God Bless,

Kara

Still at TIRR

Hello guys...just wanted to ask for quick prayers for healing for Clif...we have just found out that he has and infection and is beginning a round of antibiotics.  Right now I think he is feeling pretty crummy.  Please pray for his endurance, steadfastness, and strength to continue therapy through this as well.  I know that I am definitely ready for him to come home!!

All my love,
Paige

Quick Update...

Hey!  Just wanted to give a quick update that Clif will be heading back to the neurosurgeon tomorrow for an adjustment on his shunt.  According to the CT scans there is still room to take a little more fluid off...and don't worry this isn't invasive!  Luckily, he has a programmable shunt so it will just be a quick little trip to the office.  But, this is good news because it means that there is still room for good improvements!  His doctor right now is very excited at his progress and says he has "tons of potential."  We are just waiting to see all that God will do in his life and witness the miracles.  Please pray for his perseverance...i think he is beginning to get tired of the hospital scene just like the rest of us!
